Your American fiancee will have a social security card in his possession, try to take a look at it. You will notice that his name and your social security number are on it. The Social Security Number, or SSN, is a number assigned to you by the US Government. US schools, banks, and government agencies use it for identification. But more importantly, it is used by the US Government to trace how much income every US resident receives as well as any benefits received. Another option to apply for a social security card is when you submit Form DS-230 Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration to the designated U.S. Embassy ensure to answer “yes” in Questions 33a and 33b on Form DS-230. The embassy will submit the information in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
