The 2025 Thailand Travel Requirements All Travelers Must Meet

If you’re planning a trip to Thailand in 2025, you need to know the latest entry rules. They have undergone significant changes recently, so you need to be aware, even if you’ve visited recently. The country has updated multiple components of its entry process, and missing a step or making an error could delay your entry or result in denial at the border.

In this article, we will cover what you as a tourist or frequent visitor must do to enter Thailand legally, such as instructions on visas, health requirements, and the new digital form that every foreigner needs to complete.

How to Enter Thailand as a Tourist in 2025

2025 Thailand Travel Requirements

If you’re not a Thai citizen, you’ll need a visa or entry permit to enter the country. Thailand offers multiple different options, such as visa-free entry or applying for a Thai visa in advance. The right choice depends on your nationality, your reason for visiting, and how long you plan to stay.

Visa Exemption and Visa on Arrival (VOA)

If your passport is from one of 93 approved countries, you can enter Thailand under the Thai Visa Exemption program and stay for 60* days. You’ll get a stamp at immigration when you arrive and don’t need to apply in advance. You can extend your stay once for 30 more days at an immigration office.

If you’re not eligible for visa-free entry, you might qualify for a Thai Visa on Arrival (VOA). This visa allows you to stay in Thailand for up to 15 days and is issued upon arrival at designated entry points.

*The government has announced plans yet to be implemented to reduce the initial stay period for the visa exemption stamp down to 30 days, though the 30-day extension will still be available.

Thai Tourist Visa

If you plan to stay longer or don’t qualify for VOA, go with a Thai Tourist Visa.

  • A single-entry version gives you 60 days, with one 30-day extension possible.
  • If you leave the country, that visa is canceled unless you get a re-entry permit.
  • A multiple-entry tourist visa lasts six months. Each time you enter, you get 60 days and can extend once. This option is better if you expect to leave and return during your trip.

However, unlike the visa exemption stamp and VOA, this visa must be applied for and acquired from a Thai embassy before you leave.

The Best Thai Visas for Frequent Visitors

If you often travel to Thailand, consider getting one of these long-term tourist visas. Holding one of these visas enables you to come and go as you please for years without having to worry about visa applications or frequent extensions.

Destination Thailand Visa (DTV Visa Thailand)

The DTV Visa Thailand is valid for 5 years and gives you 180 days per entry. You can extend that once for another 180 days, letting you stay up to 360 days without leaving. This visa has relatively simple qualification requirements, but you must have a purpose for your frequent visits, such as remote work or participation in cultural activities, and provide evidence of this purpose.

Thailand Privilege Visa

The Thailand Privilege Visa comes in 5 options: Bronze, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve. Each gives you long-term stay rights in Thailand for 5, 10, 15, or 20 years, depending on the membership you choose.

It includes a huge array of benefits, such as multiple entries, airport fast-track services, and a massive selection of free VIP perks. It’s made for travelers who visit often and in comfort and want to skip the usual paperwork.

What Vaccination Rules You Need to Know for Thailand in 2025

Vaccination Rules You Need to Know for Thailand

You don’t need proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter Thailand in 2025. That rule was dropped a while ago and hasn’t been reinstated. You can board your flight and pass through immigration without showing any vaccine record.

However, there’s still one health rule you should be aware of.

If you’ve been in a country with a risk of yellow fever within two weeks before arriving in Thailand, you must show proof of vaccination against yellow fever. This applies to many countries in Africa and South America. Even a layover can count, so it’s best to bring your vaccination card. If you don’t have it, Thai immigration officers may send you for inspection or deny you entry.

The affected countries include:

  • Africa: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Togo, and Uganda
  • South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela

What You Need to Know About the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

Thailand Digital Arrival Card TDAC

Every foreigner entering Thailand must now complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card, also known as the TDAC, regardless of visa type or status. This replaced the old TM6 paper form on May 1, 2025.

You must register for the TDAC online before arriving. The system opens three days before your flight, and you can fill it out anytime before you land, and there’s no fee. Once you submit the form, you’ll get a confirmation by email, which you’ll need to show at immigration.

The TDAC system will ask for your passport details, flight number, and where you’re staying in Thailand. It also includes a short health section regarding the yellow fever requirement mentioned above. If you’ve visited any countries with health warnings in the last two weeks, you must upload extra documents.

You need a TDAC every time you enter Thailand, no matter how you arrive or what visa you use. If you forget to do it, expect long delays or possible denial at the border.
